Embedded Systems Engineer / Firmware Engineer (IoT)Edinburgh (Hybrid or Remote Options Available)Morgan Hunt are working with a start up based in Edinburgh to recruit an Embedded Systems Engineer or Firmware Engineer with a passion and knowledge of IoT technologies.The job role involves:
Embedded Systems Design: Develop and optimize embedded software for IoT devices, ensuring low power consumption, real-time performance, and robust functionality.
Firmware Development: Write and maintain firmware for microcontrollers and other embedded platforms, from initial design to production-ready solutions.
IoT Integration: Work on integrating hardware with cloud services, networking protocols, and communication systems (e.g., MQTT, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee).
Prototyping & Testing: Design and build prototypes, run extensive testing, and debug systems to ensure seamless functionality across different platforms.
Collaboration: Work closely with hardware engineers, data scientists, and product managers to develop end-to-end solutions for connected devices.
Optimisation: Continuously improve and optimise embedded systems for efficiency, scalability, and security.
The essential skills include:
Embedded Systems Expertise: Strong experience with embedded systems development, including proficiency in programming languages.
Firmware Development: Experience writing and debugging firmware for microcontrollers.
Knowledge of IoT
Hardware-Software Integration: Familiarity with hardware design principles and ability to interface embedded systems with sensors, actuators, and other peripherals.
Real-time Systems: Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and task scheduling.
Problem-Solving: Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and system-level problem-solving skills.
Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Google Cloud IoT), version control (Git), and wireless technologies.
